One in a Million Designer Challenge

Come to the Runway Cafe for the next round of the One In A Million Designer Challenge. One of the producers that I spoke to was Nino Heartsdale (photo above).

Be sure to follow this challenge round-by-round -  and if all goes as planned, I will share some photos and the story for the Society/Events section of the November issue of Best of SL Magazine.  But it is more fun to see the designs in person.  Here's some photos from Saturday's round featuring 23 designers.

Runway Cafe Team:
Alix Abruzzo, CEO (directly above)
Nino Heartsdale, Director
Jena Adder, Producer

Visit Runway Cafe's Website at http://runwaycafe.wordpress.com for a list of all the designers and scheduled events.

The Follow Exhibit at Esoterica

First of all, as I write this, The Follow is beginning its 7PM SLT show for Mankind Tracer's manager Kalli Birman's birthday.  The celebration started earlier in the day with a special concert from Mankind Tracer.  As most of you know, I have followed The Follow for eBOSL Magazine and BOSL Radio.   This circus-themed event brings together two power bands under the virtual Big Top - Mankind Tracer and The Follow trio - AJ, Troy and Powers.

I came across a very cool exhibit of The Follow's 2011 album Building Machines to Reach The Stars. You can check out their real life pics and the music there.  Also featured is my interview with the band for the July issue of Best of SL Magazine.

The Follow Music HUB, Esoterica is located at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Esoterica/227/175/21

Feed A Smile Music Festival (Live And Learn in Kenya)

‘Feed A Smile’-Music Festival is a special event that will bring smiles to children.   It is SL helping RL once again.   The music begins Saturday 30th July from 8AM SLT.

=================================================================================
Here's the backstory, compliments of the official press release (sent to me by BOSL Radio CEO' Persia Bravin):

100L$’s not much money…….

In fact-100L$ is small change to most people in Second Life™ but that same 100L$ could make a very big difference to the real life of a child in Kenya.

Because, that small amount of Linden dollars is enough to buy one warm meal for child living in the Rhonda slums of Nakuru, Kenya, where hunger, thirst and hopelessness are all too common.

Since it started fundraising in SL, the ‘Feed a Smile’ charity has paid for 18,538 meals-all thanks to donations made by generous residents from across the grid; but we need to keep fundraising to help even more children.

On Saturday 30th July, some of SL’s star musicians and performers are joining together in a day long music festival for fun and fundraising. Covering all genres of music, this huge event will be a highlight in the SL social calendar!

Brique Topaz from the ‘Feed a Smile’ charity says: “Be a part of really making a difference in real life while enjoying the pleasures of Second Life. All donations go directly to Kenya to feed the children.”

BOSL Happenings

Last few weeks, BOSL Radio has been broadcasting live at the Japan Relief Project Fundraiser.  Miss Virtual World Serene Faith was the lead organizer, and the event was a success with many vendor raffles for fashions from top designers and other specialty items.

Incredible bargains on lovely gowns, among the many fashions available, with proceeds going to the JRP fundraiser.   Fun times, and I won a lovely steampunkish design from the JRP sim.   Plus Editorial Clarity (4th photo) joined the BOSL Brown's Cheerleaders for a spectacular demonstration of his agility.   Definitely some good thoughts, love, and fun was in the air.

This week BOSL Radio is broadcasting live from the MENstuff Fashion Hunt for the fashion conscious men of Second Life. The hunt is on June 3rd - July 3rd.   This is a MAJOR HUNT!  There are 60 Welcome Gifts at the main teleport center.   Worth a visit, I think, if you are a guy - or maybe check it out for your guy friends, and tell them about it.   Come for the fun and the guys at our live broadcast all weekend (6/2-6/5) with DJS on hand for the entertainment.  The owner of Maverick - Ivy Maverick - is featured below.

After an absence of nearly 8 months, the popular and beloved DynaFleur immersive art installation has returned to Second Life. Spanning an entire sim high above StellaNova, the sim belonging to MICA (Meta-Institute for Computational Astrophysics,) DynaFleur is the kind of experience that truly is possible only in Second Life.

International Women's Day

Sunday, March 6th was International Women's Day at Minerva Pier. I caught some photos of singer/musician Gina Stella and classical violinist Isabel Jaworower near the end of day. Other performers included: Sonya Jevette Charisma (original blues), AMFORTE Clarity (singer/songwriter), and Prowess Rayna (original piano works & improvisations).

The program was sponsored by Department of Women's Studies, Ohio State University, and the America Association of University Women - and produced by Music Island Concerts.
